“Pretending”

Pretending by Marie Wolf

Let’s play pretend,
Like when we were kids.
I don’t want to be a pretty princess,
Who needs to be saved.
I want to be a warrior
Who can wield a sword.

I won’t rescue princesses
Who are spoilt and haughty.
I can steal a dragon’s heart,
Without needing him to die.
But what I prefer
Is when you play the prince.
